Cord Blimey!

Cord Blimey!

Corduroy is everywhere this season, so take a closer look at our favourite pieces at Bored for Winter '19.

Corduroy has landed in a big way for Winter/Holiday '19, with many of the big streetwear and skate brands all backing cord hard. Despite it's old perception as the fabric of choice for geography teachers elbow patches cord has always been popular with skaters, like many other thick and hard wearing fabrics. Now it's back and stronger than ever with brands such as Carhartt WIP, Stussy, Polar Skate Co, Dickies, Butter Goods all coming through with multiple Corduroy pieces in their collections.

Gone are the days of only seeing this fabric on farmers and land owners accompanied by some welly boots, now cord has embedded itself in street culture and it's being used in vibrant colours and relaxed cuts that look sharp but feel casual. We've got corduroy from tip to toe with a strong selection of shirts, pants, caps and jackets coming in the wale fabric.

We've got thick outer layers like the Carhartt WIP Whitsome Shirt Jacket coming with two lower welt pockets, padded ling and pockets on the breasts. Or there's the lighter weight Dickies Ivel Shirt in Forest with it's popper fastenings, which we've sized up and layered with a sweatshirt.

In the leg department, there's offerings in low and higher wale (thickness of cord stripes) pants and trousers, with Polar Skate Co introducing the Cord Surf Pants this season, which are a loose fit and come with a thinner cord. We also have the Cloverport Cord Work Pant from Dickies if you're after a more traditional cut and fit. They're a chunky cord with a straight leg and low rise, which we've paired up with a striped long sleeve. As well as the Polar 93 Cord which also features a thick cord, but as with most Polar pants, these joints come in a pretty loose fit.

All of these pieces will be a perfect addition for anyone's winter wardrobe and will add warmth and style to any look. And top things off with a choice of cord caps in a bunch of styles, colours and thickness of wale stripe. The Stussy Low Pro Cap and Polar Cord Cap both have a chunkier stripe, while the Carhartt Harlem Cap and Butter Goods Thomas Corduroy 6 Panel Cap feature a thinner subtle stripe.

We think some of the most exciting garments in the store this winter are corduroy pieces, and these featured are just a few of our favourites.
