Elsewhere: The story of UK skateboarding 1987–2002

Take a closer look at the incredible new book about the history of UK skateboarding.

Elsewhere is the incredible new book by Neil MacDonald a.k.a scienceversuslife, which is a stunning 464 page book that tells the story of UK skateboarding, starting in the late 1980's, when street skating first started to develop and takes us all the way through to the early 2000's and the introduction of digital media and large corporate companies in to the skate world. Words have been taken from hundreds of hours of interviews from many of the most important people in the culture at the time, and the photos come from a lot of the defining print media at the time, including Read and Destroy, Skateboard, Skate Action, and latterly Sidewalk Magazine. There's also imagry of skaters, places, clothing, and boards from popular brands at the time. The UK, like many country's started out emulating what they saw going on in sunny California, but ended up creating something very special, and unique of its own, despite the bad weather, custy spots, and rough terrain. This epic book documents everything and tells the whole story by those who were actually there.
