We’re stoked to introduce the new Bored of Southsea “Darts & Hearts” Chore Coat, a classic denim workwear jacket reworked in our own style.
As a Portsmouth-based skate shop, we’ve always been inspired by the city’s dockyard heritage. Hard graft, heavy fabrics, proper garments built to last, it’s something we’ve carried through our own Bored of Southsea clothing line. The chore denim coat felt like a natural fit for us.
Originally developed in 19th-century France, the chore coat jacket was conceived as a garment that sits between a worker’s overshirt and a simple blazer. Made from tough, hardwearing fabrics and traditionally dyed in dark tones to mask stains, it quickly became a staple for labourers, farmers, railway workers and dockyard crews alike.
Our take keeps that same no-nonsense spirit. The Darts & Hearts Chore Coat is made from 100% cotton denim in a standard fit with a slightly boxy silhouette, easy to layer over tees, hoodies or knits. It features the classic three-pocket design, durable garment-washed construction, and a button-down front and cuffs for that timeless workwear feel.
It’s finished with our custom Bored of Southsea “Darts & Hearts” woven label, inspired by vintage workwear branding and detailed in a heritage blue and red colourway.
